WHAT IS GOLD VERMEIL
All our jewellery is crafted with recycled 925 sterling silver and plated with 18kt gold vermeil plating.
Vermeil (pronounced ver-may and borrowed from Old French ) is a high-quality plating technique developed in France in the 18th century which was widely used on large objects produced by goldsmiths during this period.
To create gold vermeil, the piece must be crafted in sterling silver and covered in a thick layer of gold (a minimum of 2.5 microns to be precise). This is five times thicker than the average minimum for gold plated jewellery, so vermeil jewellery is durable and high quality.
If you would want gold vermeil that will last for a long time, 18kt gold vermeil is recommended. Anything higher will be too soft and lower would not have the colour of gold you may be after.
OUR GEMSTONES
Gemstones are often an important part of our jewellery pieces. Sourced from all over the world, they are hand-picked, cut and set into our jewellery. From white topaz, black onyx to moonstones, each are cut to bring out their natural brilliance and shine.
As we only use natural gemstones, each stone will have a different pattern, colours hue variations and opacity. This makes each piece unique and that little bit more special.
dos and don'ts
With proper care and maintenance, gold vermeil jewellery will retain its shine and sparkle for years to come.
Perfumes, creams and hairsprays will damage your jewellery overtime, so make sure to wait for at least five or six minutes after you apply your cosmetic products before putting on your vermeil jewellery.
To prevent tarnishing, wipe gold vermeil jewellery after use. The accumulation of body oils, cosmetics and grime can cause the jewellery to lose its sparkle and to fade.
Avoid any contact with chemicals, so remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing or washing your hands with chemical soaps.
Gently clean your jewellery with a soft 100% cotton or microfibre cloth to softly wipe the item. Never use coarse fabrics or chemicals as this can strip the gold off. If you would like to clean your jewellery, wash it with a small amount of gentle dish soap or non-chemical soap and warm water.
Store your jewellery in our microfibre pouch, away from dust and dirt, and in airtight box to minimize the oxidization of the silver base. Store each item separately so they don’t get damaged, scratched or tangled.
HOW TO CARE FOR THE GEMSTONES IN OUR JEWELLERY
As they are all completely natural, they require some special care.
Avoid harsh chemicals or hot water at all time
Clean the gemstones with a clean, soft damp cloth after use.
More porous gemstones such as pearl, opal and turquoise should not be immersed in water for too long and should cleaned with a dry, soft cloth only.
